1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account Info — name, email, authentication identifiers (provided by you when you sign up, or by Apple or Google if you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google)
• App Preferences — favorite teams and players, notification settings, language, voice selection
• Interaction Data — chat history with Rene, voice queries, search terms you enter, screens viewed, features used
• Device Info — device type, OS version, app version, push notification tokens
• Diagnostic Data — crash reports, error traces, performance metrics

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or financial information.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Authenticate you and secure your account
• Personalize your experience and AI responses
• Deliver push notifications for matches you follow
• Improve the accuracy and relevance of Rene
• Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the app

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

3. AI & Chat Data

Conversations with Rene are processed through large language model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). Chat history is retained to provide conversational context. You can delete your chat history or your entire account at any time from Settings.

Voice input is transcribed using on-device speech recognition (Apple) or server-side processing. Raw audio is not retained beyond the time needed to generate a response.

AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies — do not rely on it for betting, medical, legal, or other professional decisions.

4. Third-Party Services

Hey Rene relies on third-party service providers, each of which receives a limited subset of your data for its stated purpose:

• Authentication — email, name, sign-in identifiers
• Database and backend hosting — favorites, preferences, subscriptions
• App delivery and over-the-air updates — app version, push notification tokens
• Crash and error monitoring — stack traces, device info, user ID
• Product analytics — screen views, feature usage, anonymous ID
• Sports data — no personal data is shared with our sports data provider
• AI language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) — your messages to Rene, in order to generate a response
• Apple Push Notification service and Apple Live Activities — iOS notifications and lock-screen widgets

Each provider has its own privacy policy governing its handling of your data. If you would like to know which specific company sits behind any category above, email support@heyrene.io and we will tell you.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time (Settings → Security → Delete Account)
• Export a copy of your data (contact support@heyrene.io)
• Opt out of non-essential analytics (coming soon)
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA. EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR. To exercise these rights, contact support@heyrene.io.

6. Data Retention

We retain different data categories for different periods:

• Account and preferences — retained while your account is active
• Chat history — retained while your account is active; you can clear it anytime
• Crash reports — 90 days
• Analytics events — up to 12 months
• Voice audio — not retained beyond request processing
• Push tokens — deleted when you disable notifications or delete your account

When you delete your account, all personal data is purged from our systems within 30 days. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before automatic deletion.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including TLS/HTTPS for data in transit, encryption at rest, and strict access controls on our databases and infrastructure. No internet transmission or storage system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Hey Rene is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact support@heyrene.io and we will delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

Our service providers are primarily located in the United States. If you access Hey Rene from outside the US, your data will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the US. By using the app you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Website & Waitlist Signups

Separately from the app, our website (heyrene.io) lets you join a pre-launch waitlist by submitting your email address. For the waitlist we collect only your email address — no name, payment information, or tracking.

We use it solely to send you your TestFlight invite and to share occasional significant updates before launch. Waitlist emails are stored securely and are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties. To be removed, email support@heyrene.io and we will delete your entry immediately, no questions asked.
